The European Maritime Day (EMD) is organised annually by the European Commission’s DG MARE to raise the visibility of maritime sectors and support an integrated approach to maritime affairs. The main event is the European Maritime Day Conference, held in a different region each year. This platform welcomes Europe's growing maritime community, with industry professionals from across the EU joining policymakers to discuss, debate and exchange best practices.

In the past, JPI Oceans has actively participated in the conference and last year hosted a workshop on “Knowledge-Based Governance of Deep-Sea Resources”.

The 2017 conference, located in Poole on May 18-19 (UK), will focus on 1) Innovation & Growth, 2) People & Skills, 3) Safety & Security, 4) Sustainability & Governance.
