Joint Programming – A preferred mechanism
Joint Programming is a preferred mechanism for making progress in cross-border research funding in Europe. This is one of the main outcomes of the Consultation on the European Research Area.
EU funding for Blue Growth
At a recent seminar in the European Parliament Commissioner for Maritime Affairs, Maria Damanaki, said that “the marine and maritime research is clearly indicated in all relevant documentation of the Horizon 2020 package”.
JPI Oceans officially launched by the Council
On 6 December EU Research ministers officially launched JPI Oceans. In its conclusions, the Competitiveness Council emphasizes that JPI Oceans will contribute to the reduction of fragmentation of research efforts in Europe and invites the Commission to offer support in the implementation of the initiative.
JPI Oceans welcomes Horizon 2020 proposal
The European Commission presented on the 30th of November its proposal “Horizon 2020, the framework programme for research and innovation.” The new research funding programme 2014-2020 lists 6 Societal challenges on which funding will be focused, including “Food security, sustainable agriculture, marine and maritime research and the bio-economy.”
A draft Marine Research Plan for the European Atlantic Sea Basin
SEAS-ERA has published (October 2011) a Discussion Document: - A draft Marine Research Plan for the European Atlantic Sea Basin. JPI Oceans welcomes the contribution from the SEAS-ERA partners recalling that the Management Board of JPI Oceans in its Vision Document has stated that it will build on already existing initiatives and processes like SEAS-ERA.
