Joint Actions
JPI Oceans uses a range of tools to solve the challenges outlined in the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda.
Joint Actions are initiated to implement the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda of JPI Oceans. The size and scope of each action will vary depending on the research needs and the method used will depend upon the objective.
A number of methods have been identified which could be used in the actions of JPI Oceans. These include:
- National research funding
- Institutional investments
- Human resources
- Capacity building
- Existing infrastructure
- Structural funds
- Modelling
- Networking
- Research alliances
To initiate an action, one member country must take the lead and be supported by at least three others. Countries may choose to fund new research or to participate through funding the coordination costs, use of infrastructure or creating open access to data or other forms of contributions considered useful in the joint action. Actions can be searched by lead and participating countries here.
