JPI Oceans covers all European sea basins with 22 member countries and one observing country.
The following countries have representatives in the Management Board, the decision making governance body of JPI Oceans. Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Ireland, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and United Kingdom. The European Commission is a non-voting member of the Management Board and Malta is an observer to the Management Board.
JPI Oceans is open to all EU Member States and Associated Countries who invest in marine and maritime research.
