The consortium consisting of 32 partner institutions from the three Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs) on Water, Oceans and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) has been invited to sign the Grant Agreement.

AquaticPollutants Cofund acceppted by the European Commission

AquaticPollutants will start in January 2020 and will run for five years. The Cofund will develop a common strategy between the three JPIs dealing with emerging pollutants, pathogens and antimicrobial resistance in the whole water cycle, from ‘source to mouth’.

Joint call

The Cofund plans to announce a joint transnational call in early 2020. In addition the Cofund will be carrying out additional activities that support the alignment of the three JPIs along with the transfer and implementation of the joint call research projects. The overall coordination of the project and management of the call secretariat will be carried out by Germany (Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF/Research Center Jülich).

Background

One of the most serious risks for our water bodies and oceans and consequently human health derives from the occurrence of emerging pollutants and pathogens, especially antimicrobial resistant bacteria, in the environment. To face this challenge in a comprehensive way and to provide multidisciplinary solutions for a safe and healthy aquatic environment, the three JPIs on Water, Oceans and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) have joined forces to address the issue.
