Marinas for Sea Science and Community Unity

On 4-5 July 2024, JPI Oceans held a scoping workshop on Certosa Island in the Venice lagoon to discuss the shape of a possible new JPI Oceans Joint Action that capitalises on the potential of marinas for science and education. The meeting was kindly hosted by the Venezia Certosa Marina, a marina upholding and promoting the values of sustainability and knowledge-based actions.

Beneath the waves: launch of the JPI Oceans information portal on Munition in the Sea

European waters are littered with conventional and chemical munitions from warfare and post-war demilitarisation actions. Since munition shells and containers are increasingly corroding, they have been shown to release toxic substances that contaminate the marine environment, harm marine organisms and pose threats to human health and safety.

Turning the final page on a JPI Oceans bestseller: celebrating ten years of success as the Microplastics Joint Action concludes

The Microplastics Joint Action was one of the first thematic activities of JPI Oceans. It became a poster child of the power of collaboration among European countries, and it is now getting a happy ending. After a decade of groundbreaking research and agenda setting, the Management Board of JPI Oceans has decided at its meeting in April 2024 to conclude the Joint Action ‘Ecological Aspects of Microplastics’ on its peak of achievement.

Climate-Ocean nexus: a deep dive into JPI-funded research

JPI Oceans adopts BlueBio projects after the ERA-Net Cofund ends
