The Conference we attended for the Decade we need

The 2024 Ocean Decade Conference brought together the global Ocean Decade community from 8-12 April in Barcelona to celebrate achievements and set joint priorities for the remainder of the Decade. JPI Oceans contributed actively to the Conference and to ‘delivering the science we need for the ocean we want,’ as a co-organiser in three of the Conference’s satellite events.
Five JPI Oceans Underwater Noise Projects kick off their activities in Brussels

JPI Oceans was pleased to announce the successful kick-off meeting of its five innovative projects, focused on the effects of noise pollution on marine ecosystems and the development of innovative seismic sources as quieter and effective alternatives to conventional marine geophysical exploration.

The innovative projects are coming in the wake of a JPI Oceans call establishing a unique collaboration between Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania and Spain together with BANOS, BlueMed, NOAA and the UN Ocean Decade.

Launch of Joint Call for proposals on underwater noise in the marine environment

Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania and Spain under the framework of JPI Oceans and together with BANOS, BlueMed, NOAA and the UN Ocean Decade, are pleased to launch this call, with a deadline for proposals on 28 February 2022.
JPI Oceans workshop on underwater noise in the marine environment

Under the umbrella of JPI Oceans more than 20 experts nominated from 9 countries and international organisations met at the National Research Council headquarters in Rome, Italy from 13-14 January 2020 to discuss the outlines of a potential JPI Oceans action on marine noise.
