Science for Good Environmental Status expert workshop

The JPI Oceans Joint Action on ‘Science for Good Environmental Status’ (S4GES) aims to contribute to better understanding and achieving a GES in a more integrative way towards a sustainable use of the seas and ocean and support to the MSFD. The Joint Action will be articulated in three main lines of activities: (i) Knowledge sharing, (ii) Joint integrated monitoring approaches, and (iii) test beds and augmented observatories.

Cooperation, involvement, and exchange among user groups (policy makers, infrastructure providers, etc.) will continuously take place to identify scientific ideas and solutions, which can be implemented and serve user needs.

From 2 to 4 December 2020 the first S4GES expert workshop on ‘Musing on the concept of Good Environmental Status: the complexity of the status and the status of complexity’ is taking place virtually. The workshop is jointly organized by BlueMed Initiative and JPI Oceans and focuses on the complexity in the marine ecosystem and the connected aspects for the implementation and governance of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.

We kindly invite you to participate in the workshop and feel free to distribute the workshop information within your communities.
