SYSTEMIC is a Knowledge Hub on Food and Nutrition Security in collaboration with JPI-HDHL (Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life), FACCE-JPI (Joint Programming Initiative for Agriculture, Climate Change, and Food Security), JPI-OCEANS (Joint Programming Initiative Healthy and Productive Seas and Oceans). The SYSTEMIC idea has developed thanks to the involvement of 41 institutions from 8 countries to create a network for a better understanding of food and nutrition in an evolving environment. The project has received funding from national research funding parties in Belgium (FWO), France (INRAE), Germany (BLE), Italy (MIPAAF), Latvia (IZM), Norway (RCN), Portugal (FCT), and Spain (AEI) .
The SYSTEMIC network gathers the excellence of existing research in livestock, crop production, aquaculture, climate change, nutrition, consumption, consumer behavior, society, and environmental health to explore cross-cutting solutions, identity knowledge gaps and develop a pathway for food system transformation, which is climate-resilient and able to cope with societal challenges.
SYSTEMIC, through a multidisciplinary approach, will exchange knowledge to fill the gaps and develop a joint vision for a safe and secure food production, considering the multiple-faceted of European production systems, consumer diet changes, and their impacts on the environment. For this purpose, a knowledge hub is an innovative and useful tool that associates 3 dimensions: networking, research, and capacity building.
