Key responsibilities

The intern will support the work of the JPI Oceans Secretariat. The main portfolio items designated to the intern may include, depending on the candidate’s profile and experience:

  •  Co-organise the final event of the JPI Oceans Joint Action Underwater Noise in the Marine Environment and the kick-off meeting of the JPI Oceans Joint Action Changing Marine Lightscapes
  • Support the implementation of our Joint Actions and Strategic Engagements, for instance, by:  
    o    Supporting the further development of our knowledge portal on munitions in the sea; 
    o    Assisting in the creation of national charts of European ocean observing; 
    o    Supporting the organisation of the All-Atlantic Forum 2025, including an intergenerational dialogue.

     
Requirements
  • A degree or relevant experience in marine or maritime sciences, relevant natural or social sciences, political science, European studies, international law, or related fields;  
  • Interest in national and European science policy and marine and maritime research;  
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English;  
  • Self-motivation and ability to take responsibility and initiative;  
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesise information;  
  • Good knowledge of Office 365suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);  
  • Experience with Photoshop and InDesign is an asset.

Conditions

Starting date: as soon as possible 
Duration: max. 6 months

Remuneration will be offered according to German law between 2000 € -2850 € net pay per month. Remuneration ranges vary by educational level reflecting advanced skills and qualifications.
