Now in its seventh edition, the World Conference on Marine Biodiversity (WCMB) is coming to Bruges in November 2026 as an endorsed UN Ocean Decade Event. The overall theme of the Conference is “The marine biodiversity insights we need, for the ocean we want”, and it will provide an opportunity to take stock of ongoing actions and initiatives, but also evaluate what still needs to be tackled by the end of the Decade.
JPI Oceans will be present through its "Ecological Aspects of Deep-Sea Mining" Joint Action, as the MiningImpact3 project partners are runing the session "Understanding environmental impacts of deep-seabed mining: Science for sustainable ocean governance" under the theme "Science that makes a difference".
