Galway, Ireland

The Atlantic Summit Galway 2026 will bring together leaders and stakeholders from ocean research, policy, industry and civil society to shape priorities for the Atlantic within Europe's ocean agenda.

The Summit is organised by the Marine Institute — coordinator of OKEANO, the Coordination and Support Action supporting the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance (AAORIA) — together with the University of Galway and Atlantic Technological University, with support from the Irish Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.

The programme will include plenary sessions, strategic discussions and networking opportunities across the Atlantic community, as well as some of the 2026 All-Atlantic Intergenerational Hackathon participants.

Following the Hackathon co-organised by JPI Oceans and held in Salvador during the 2026 AAORIA Forum, selected Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOPs) will have the chance to bring the outcomes of their Hackathon work into a high-level policy and science diplomacy forum and further engage with Atlantic partners.

Additional workshops will take place alongside the Summit, with further details to be announced.
