MARIGREEN_TECB achieved all the objectives described in the application. The workshop was carried out as planned, with lectures and presentations from participants and invited experts. In addition to the theory that was presented, there was a lot of practical work in the laboratory. The participants included two PhD candidates from Norway (one of them from Ethiopia, but studying at NMBU), two from Greece, and six from two universities in Romania (UPB and USAMV). Two invited experts, one from Scotland and one from Austria, and several researchers from Romania held lectures on composting, humic substances and spectroscopy (FT-IR). There was a tour of the facilities on the campus of USAMV and a visit to field trials which are part of MARIGREEN's main project.
This project gave more visibility to the main project and established contact between existing partners/participants and potential new collaboration partners, for example with the two experts who were invited and their institutions (The James Hutton Institute in Scotland and BOKU in Vienna) and other researchers at USAMV. It also strengthened the knowledge and added to the skill sets of the PhD candidates who are part of MARIGREEN.
