Ending on a blue note - Final meeting for ten BlueBio projects

JPI Oceans adopts BlueBio projects after the ERA-Net Cofund ends

On 31 May 2024 the ERA-Net Cofund Blue Bioeconomy (BlueBio) will conclude. To ensure that the still ongoing 30 BlueBio-initiated projects have lasting legacy and impact beyond the Cofund’s conclusion, JPI Oceans will assume responsibility for their follow-up.
Stepping into the Mission Arena for regional discourse on North and Baltic Seas

JPI Oceans and the BlueBio ERA-NET Cofund engaged knee-deep in the first Mission Arena in Gothenburg on 14-16 November. We shared our experiences as networks of R&I funders and consulted regional stakeholders’ views on which funding instruments are best suited to support the Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters.
BlueBio Cofund amplifies project reach and knowledge impact by funding 13 projects

Under the third and final additional call of the BlueBio Cofund, 13 projects were selected to amplify project reach and knowledge impact. The call is a smaller and shorter call, to enable a targeted funding call to organisations already participating in a BlueBio project.
29 BlueBio projects evaluated in Lisbon

For the first time, on 6-7 June 2023, 29 BlueBio projects met in Lisbon for their project evaluation presentations. The 19 projects from the first call did their final evaluation and the 10 projects from the second call had their mid-term evaluation.
Towards a blue bioeconomy research agenda

The Blue Bioeconomy ERA-NET Cofund is launching a blue bioeconomy research agenda as a result of a foresight implemented in 2022. The foresight was part of Blue Bioeconomy ERA-NET Cofund’s mission of strengthening Europe’s position in the blue bioeconomy, working with facilitators Luc van Hoof and Sarah Smith from the European Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Organisations (EFARO – efaro.eu).

BlueBio holds Advanced Training course in Marine Biotechnologies

The BlueBio ERA-NET Cofund held a 3-day Advanced Training course in Marine Biotechnologies on 15-18 January at the University of Foggia, in Foggia, Italy. The course was co-organised by the National Research Council (CNR, Italy) and the University of Foggia (Italy), with the patronage of the European Society of Marine Biotechnology (ESMB).
Increasing impact – supporting commercialisation in BlueBio projects

In October 2022, 26 BlueBio funded projects met to discuss opportunities for commercialisation support, as the first cohort of projects are entering their final year. This event was the fourth thematic “e-coffee” meeting organised by the BlueBio ERA-Net.
