Project Abstract

SMARTCHAIN_DISS project aims at creating added value to SMARTCHAIN by expanding its communication and dissemination strategy and activities. From the beginning, the results of the SMARTCHAIN project were considered, by both the consortium and external stakeholders, as being socially relevant. However, reaching out to the differentiated target groups required setting up strategies and methods for communication and dissemination tailored to each one of those groups that SMARTCHAIN could not perform at its best.

The overarching objective of SMARTCHAIN_DISS is to make the project's findings easy to understand and appealing to the wider audiences and to showcase what is new and revolutionary about the project's results, to relevant stakeholders who should care about them. In concrete, the activities of dissemination had a focus on (1) highlighting the SMARTCHAIN results and what is new for the industry and society, as well as why the results are important and what benefits they give their users (activities I, II, III, IV); (2) communicate clearly that SMARTCHAIN partners are available for further assistance with implementation in the industry (activity I); (3) organise and participate in relevant thematic events to increase project’s visibility and showcase the results in different arenas (activities I, II, III, IV).

To ensure the most effective dissemination and to maximise SMARTCHAIN’s impact, several types of activities were organised concerning differentiated audiences. SMARTCHAIN_DISS engaged with stakeholders from universities and research centres specialised in blue bioeconomy sectors (activities I; IV); seafood value chain actors, companies working in association with blue bioeconomy value chains (activities I), consumers/general public/citizens (activities II); and food experts (all activities). With the ongoing activities, the project still aims to reach out to policymakers in the field of seafood, ingredients and market regulations (activities IV).
