From 20 April to 25 June 2023, an art exhibition entitled “Seas and Oceans” took place at the Talk C.E.C. gallery and cultural hub in Brussels. JPI Oceans contributed as an official partner with scientific advise, explanatory texts, and guest speakers to share insights on key topics from the marine and aquatic environment such as, carbon, climate, fishing, ocean health, the deep-sea mining. In addition, JPI Oceans organised several events in the gallery, including the reception of the 29th Management Board meeting, the dinner of the "Underwater Noise in the Marine Environment" projects kick-off event, and an EU4Ocean Coalition ocean literacy event in celebration of World Ocean Day.
While the visual spectacle of seas and oceans exhibitions was undoubtedly captivating, it was the inclusion of expert talks that truly enriched the experience. By inviting renowned scientists, conservationists, and researchers to share their knowledge and insights, exhibitions create a platform for meaningful dialogue and engagement with the pressing issues facing our oceans.
JPI Oceans' involvement in seas and oceans exhibitions has been instrumental in fostering dialogue and disseminating cutting-edge research. The expert talks served as a vital platform for researchers to share their findings, discuss emerging trends, and highlight the urgency of addressing critical issues such as marine ecosystems, deep-sea mining, sustainable fishing, and carbon capacities. See a full list of speakers and topics covered below:

On 8 June, JPI Oceans took part in a EU4Ocean Coalition event in celebration of World Ocean Day at the Talk CEC gallery. During the event, visitors were invited to discover the wonders of the ocean, engage with Blue Economy professionals, and explore the many facets of ocean sustainability.
As we face mounting challenges in safeguarding the health and sustainability of our seas and oceans, the importance of exhibitions and expert talks cannot be overstated. The collaboration between JPI Oceans and these exhibitions serves as a catalyst for change, driving innovative research, policy development, and public engagement.
