Almost 300 participants joined online to hear directly from the authors who collaborated to bring this vital report to life. Their dedication has been instrumental in providing European policymakers, researchers, and the public with a comprehensive overview of the challenges and implications of sea level rise across Europe.
The launch brought together diverse perspectives from speakers and facilitated a dynamic exchange with the audience. Participants actively engaged through insightful questions to the speakers, highlighting the strong interest in the topic.
The Lead Author of chapter ‘Adaptation measures and decision making principles’, Giulia Galluccio, is director at CMCC and vice-chair of JPI Climate. She said, “We developed a comprehensive catalogue of adaptation measures for costal planning, and we see that trade-offs are present. To accurately analyse existing trade-offs of adaptation measures, it is important to understand the effectiveness and feasibility of these measures. The paper has identified a critical gap in the literature in this regard. In particular, there is a scientific need to assess the effectiveness and feasibility of individual measures and in context-specific cases.”
