For a healthy aquatic environment: ERA-Net Cofund Aquatic Pollutants projects officially started

To tackle one of the most pressing issues facing society – the presence of pollutants and pathogens in water resources – the three JPIs on Water, Oceans and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) brought together 32 ministries, authorities and funding organisations from 26 countries to form the new ERA-NET Cofund AquaticPollutants.
A week and a workshop on munition in the sea

On 6-10 September 2021, JPI Oceans took part in the Munition Clearance Week in Kiel, Germany, discussing potential solutions to retrieve the ammunition from the sea floor and pressing issues related to legacy munition clearance.

BlueBio Cofund funds ten projects in 1st Additional Call

After a two-stage evaluation process the BlueBio Call Committee has selected proposals of the 1st additonal call. Proposals focus on supply systems which entail the steps and activities in logistics and transportation from harvest or catch as well as pre-processing activities to ensure the quality of bio-resources.

Assessing the impacts of nodule mining on the deep-sea environment

Scientists of the JPI Oceans project “MiningImpact” are embarking on a 6-week expedition to the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone (CCZ) in the Pacific. Their goal is to carry out independent scientific monitoring of the test of a pre-prototype nodule collector machine conducted in parallel from a second vessel by the Belgian company Global Sea Mineral Resources (GSR).
