The Cumulative Effects of Human Activities Knowledge Hub developed guidelines and common principles for decision makers on how to assess cumulative effects of human activities in a Handbook published in 2024.

The Joint Action Ecological Aspects of Microplastics was launched as one of JPI Oceans’ pilot activities, to study the sources, distribution and impact of microplastics in the marine environment.
Integrated Assessment of New Pollutants
The Knowledge Hub on integrated assessment of new pollutants was a network consisting of selected experts and published a policy paper on Integrated Assessment of Chemical Contaminants and their Effects on the Marine Environment.

The scientific intercalibration exercise for the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) brought together scientific experts to perform required analyses in the most cost-efficient way.

MarTERA - ERA-NET Cofund on Marine Technologies
The H2020 ERA-NET MarTERA had an overall goal to strengthen the European Research Area (ERA) in maritime and marine technologies as well as Blue Growth, funding projects in four calls. JPI Oceans organised the final meeting of the 3rd and 4th calls in November 2023.

The Knowledge Hub constitutes a multi-national expert group that coordinates research and innovation to enable countries to assess and achieve Good Environmental Status.
Sea Level Rise
The Knowledge Hub on Sea Level Rise is a joint effort between JPI Climate and JPI Oceans operating as a networking platform facilitating the interaction between research and policy on sea level rise.
Transdisciplinary Research for Ocean Sustainability
The Belmont Forum, JPI Oceans and Future Earth joined forces for a Collaborative Research Action (CRA) on Transdisciplinary Research for Ocean Sustainability, resulting in a joint call funding 13 projects.
